Chandragiri Fort A Must Visit Tourist Destination

Whenever a tourist plans to visit Tirupati, he or she must also visit Chandragiri Fort. Your visit would remain incomplete without a visit to this socio-cultural landscape and admiration of its beauty. This place offers a way to come face-to-face with Indian history.

Uniqueness of Chandragiri: There are various tourist destinations in Tirupati. Most of the visitors come here for religious trips. However, if you are a lover of ancient history, you cannot go back without paying a visit to this magnificent fort. Almost all the Tirupati tour packages include Chandragiri as a destination. If you want to explore the beauty of Indian history, there is no better place than this. This place is unique in the sense that it is a blend of history and modernism. History of the Palace: The Fort has been built by the Aravidu dynasty in the 11th century. There are two separate Mahals (Palaces) in the Chandragiri Fort. The main Palace is known as the Kings Palace (Raja Mahal) and the other part is known as the Queens Palace (Rani Mahal). Although both the Palaces have a similar architecture, there is uniqueness about each part. Situated at a distance of about 20 km from the Tirupati, the fort is the major tourist attraction in Andhra Pradesh and people from all over the country come to pay a visit to this place. Current Scenario: Currently, the fort has been converted into an archeological museum which consists of a large collection of sculptures and artifacts from ancient Indian history. The large collection of idols and literature leaves tourists spellbound. The fort has a collection of various artifacts from varying ranges of rules, from the Mysore Empire to the Golcondas. Golcondas are the ones who reside in the fort last and after that, this fort wentinto oblivion. Later on, it was restored by the Andhra Pradesh authorities. They made several improvements to the place and made it capable enough to be added to the Tirupati tour packages. Most of the packages include this magnificent landmark as part of their travel itinerary.

Specialty: Tourists from all over India visit Tirupati not only to pay homage to the famous Tirupati shrine but also visit this popular historic site. This fort has a popular lights show in the evening time. In the dark, when lights glow, the entire surroundings become all the more beautiful. This light show occurs in the Raja Mahal, as tourists are not allowed to enter most parts of the Rani Mahal. Tourists have to buy tickets to watch the lights show. Photography is not allowed inside of the museum. The crowning pillars look beautiful and the ornaments which decorate the Queens Palace are more than just beautiful.
